This is a volunteer program managed by Camp Hope, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving people with disabilities in Quito, Ecuador.
This wonderful program's main goal is to give the people from countries around the world the opportunity to serve and make a positive difference for people with disabilities. These individuals struggle to survive and have a life of dignity; some were rejected by their own families, or lived in such poverty that they were unable to live and grow as any human being deserves.
A great aspect of this program is that it allows volunteers to visit this beautiful and unique country during their free time on weekends and after the day's work. Ecuador is a small but very unique country, with four distinct regions: the coast, the highlands, the jungle and the Galapagos Islands. Quito itself was the first city recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site and offers many interesting activities and places to explore.
Volunteering at Camp Hope allows you to become immersed in the culture like no regular visitor to Ecuador could. Volunteers have the chance to visit the homes of some clients that Camp Hope serves, and to attend dinners and parties hosted by Camp Hope staff and friends. Camp Hope also organizes cultural events for volunteers to experience. While working at Camp Hope, you will come to know Ecuadorians as you work together on projects. Many long-lasting friendships have been formed between locals and volunteers. You'll find that Ecuadorians are great people that know how to have fun!
