GROUP LEADER
Hi, my name is Fabian Pazmino Dalgo. I am a psychologist and hand craftsman, and I am 49 years old.
Twenty years ago, I started out as a volunteer with Camp Hope, helping children with their schoolwork. Later, I was hired to coordinate Camp Hope`s Medical Area, organizing medical caravans to poor neighborhoods around Quito, getting medicines for our program participants and managing all activities relating to healthcare for Camp Hope's children and young people.
To get my degree in psychology, I had to leave Camp Hope for some years. When I returned, I took on the role of Assistant Executive Director, then was a teacher in the vocational area due to my skills as a craftsman. At Camp Hope, our program participants make crafts that are sold to raise funds for Camp Hope programs.
I worked as a volunteer coordinator and translator for Camp Hope groups and groups visiting other organizations for more than five years. And because of my ability to speak fluent English, I am one of the permanent translators at Camp Hope when we have people visiting from foreign countries.
Ever since I started working with Camp Hope's children, I understood that we need to motivate and teach children and young people—despite their disabilities—to become independent and at least eat, dress and go the bathroom by themselves. After 33 years of Camp Hope´s existence, we are very proud of our work because we can see how some of our children who are now adults, were able to complete their life plans, form families, get professions, work and earn money for themselves and their families.
At Camp Hope, every single day is different. We work according our schedules, then suddenly we have new visitors, new friends coming, new events that we need to attend, so our days move so quickly. That is why I love to work at Camp Hope. Fabian

VOLUNTEERS COORDINATOR
Hola,
I am Maricela Miranda, but you can call me Mari. I am the youngest of six children. Needless to say it has been an amazing experience.
I become involved with Camp Hope as a volunteer for summer camps when I was 16 years old. Since then I fell in love with Camp Hope's mission, vision and service which gave me the opportunity to be part of making a difference in other people lives through my work at Camp Hope.
In the year 2000 I was hired by a USA based volunteer organization which whom I worked with for 9 years as the Country Manager and team leader. This experience gave me a new perspective about the important impact of volunteers around the world and how the experiences can enrich their lives and the lives of people that they help.
At the end of 2008 I left my job with the organization in order to pursue my dream of becoming a doctor in medicine. In about a year, I will be finished with school.
At the moment I currently live at Casa Hogar (the orphanage at Camp Hope Foundation) working as the Coordinator of Programs. This has given me the opportunity to have special schedule due to balancing my education and work, plus is a great place for my foster son Ronald to live, as he is a child with disabilities as well.

Ronald, my 16 years old son , is a adolescent with special needs who has bright personality, and is the center of my world. Close to us, lives Rita who works at Camp Hope as well and helps me with taking care of Ronald when I am in school.
I love working with volunteers because this give me the opportunity to share our vision and to know that together we can leave a positive mark in the world
Mari
